My friends and I at Badagry

I like the concept of friendship.

It's such a nerve wrecking thing, just like love, and sibling relationships.

It's like, I will lay my life down for you at the blink of an eye, but why are you dipping your bread inside tea?

I enjoy spending so much time with you because you get me, but why are you in my space so much?

Why are you also biting me when you’re not a dog?

Of course I will make and bring you breakfast in bed, and cuddle up with you when you need me to, even though I hate cooking, but why are you eating the last piece of my short bread? Are you a thief?

Yes, I will tell you my secrets, and let you see my stretch marks, and scars, but why do you always have to steal my clothes when you come over?

I definitely want to wear matching fits with you, and go for concerts, and spa dates, but why does that perfume on you smell like the one that got missing in my flat two months ago?

If you need to rant, come to me, my darling. Sleep in my arms, in fact, but why are you kicking me in your sleep? Should I sign you up for WWE? Ehn, Sasha Fierce?

I really, really like the concept of friendship.

It exposes us, and leaves us bare before the people we love.

Friendship has us sharing ourselves; the good, the bad, the not-so-pretty, and the full on ugly, with people who once we're only strangers.

I love friendship because it strips us of all coverings, and lets us see, and be see for the imperfect, broken people that we really are.

It is such a beautiful, beautiful thing.

Friendship is really just as much about loving people through things you don't like as much as loving them through the things that make you heart flutter.

Because I will fight you drinking from my water bottle, but you know that if I have to, I'd give you a kidney just to see you smile again.
